Beavers hunt for mini-beasts and leaves

Image
Beavers enjoyed throwing shapes while playing musical statues and learning about the habitat and diet of  five different British animals. We also had a leaf and mini-beast hunt. The mini-beasts were in short supply but the Beavers were able to identify many of the trees in the park.

A sweet treat for the Scouts on Friday

Image
During our meeting on Fridays, the Scouts have been working on practical skills. This week we were making fires. As the Scouts will all agree, no camp fire is complete without a sweet treat, so all the Scouts finished off the meeting by roasting a marshmallow or two.

Cubs have a go at FootGolf

Image
The Cubs were lucky enough to give FootGolf a go, in Hanger Hill park earlier this term. The Cubs got to sample the novel sport and had a 'ball' doing so. A few of the Cubs nearly got hole in ones! If you are interested and want to book a session, please get in contact with Paul on 07584 325758.

Setting up tents and crab football

Image
Beavers continued working on the Outdoors challenge badge this week and practiced setting up a tent. They learned where best to pitch it and the different parts of a tent. Euro 2020 fever is in the air so we put our own spin on it with an energetic game of crab football. Staying on all fours proved to be quite challenging!

Local hike for Cubs Summer 2021

Image
On Sunday the 9 th  May St Peter's and St Benedict's Cub pack went on a hike from Boston Manor to Gurnell via the Canal and river networks. The two packs, spaced by half an hour, embarked on their routes across and along the canal for a couple of miles passing several boats and locks, with a stop at the three bridges landmark. After looking at the landmark we continued homeward bound, towards Gurnell. This took us under the Uxbridge road and into the Bunny Park in Hanwell and then straight to Gurnell for pick up. A great day out was had by all!

New Beavers and an outdoor pop up gallery

Image
We welcomed five new joiners to the colony this week and played some games in the park. Beavers also enjoyed seeing their favourite two photos displayed in our outdoor pop up photo gallery. At the end of the meeting, parents were welcomed to mingle, view the gallery and purchase Father's Day items from our stall, raising funds for the group.

Ealing & Hanwell District Beavers Activity Day at PACCAR Scout Camp

Image
On Sunday 10 Beavers headed off to join Beaver groups from across the District to complete a number of adventurous activities at PACCAR Scout Camp in Buckinghamshire. First up was crate stacking, followed by a few circuits in a pedal kart. Then, after a short walk deep into the woods, the Beavers tested their head for heights as they flew through the trees on zip lines.  After lunch and a brief rest, the adventure area beckoned and the day was rounded off with archery.
