Joint Cub Activity Day - Summer Term 2021

Image
On Sunday the 13th  June St Benedict's and St Peter's Cub pack had an activity day at the District campsite in Stoke Poges. The two packs, not mixing, spent a day in the sun playing games, learning first aid, bouldering and shooting air rifles at target . In the middle of the day everyone cooked their own lunch on fires and we finished he day with each pack gathering around their own camp fires. I think a wonderful day was had by all, and everyone slept well on the Sunday evening!

Litter, birds, bugs and new Beavers

Cathy Swift from LAGER Can joined us this morning to talk to the Beavers about litter and the environment and to do a litter pick around the park. The Beavers did a great job of picking up shards of plastic and scraps of paper and wrappers using their litter pickers. We also continued working on the Outdoors challenge badge and made bird feeders and big hotels. The session was topped off by investing three new Beavers to the colony.

Tour de Ealing and Richmond!

On Saturday an intrepid group of 11 Scouts, 1 Young Leader and 6 Leaders completed over 40km of cycling from the HQ scenically to, around, and back from Richmond.  A little rain shower did cause some dampness before lunch but spirits were high throughout the trip.

No time for sitting down on the job!

During our Friday meeting the Scouts turned their hand at cooking a stew with dumplings. They all had a great time and also showed us that they know how to wash up too.  You can also see that some of the Scouts got to try out next weeks final product... we hope - expertly made by 'Skip' Howard. Keep posted to see how the Scouts get on with their lashings next week.

How high can they go!

During our Thursday Cub meeting we challenged the Cubs to see who could build the highest cardboard box tower. We found that the Cub's much preferred knocking down the boxes to building them higher.

Parachutes away!

Beavers loved getting active today with a warm up session, running tips and a run around the park with a marathon runner and flapping a giant parachute. They also continued to build their knowledge of animals with a game of Guess Who? Thanks to all the parents today who completed their Disclosure and Barring Service application forms.
