Making Money

Cubs continued developing their money skills by understanding the security features of currency. They then designed their own note with its own security features. Along the way we had discussions on Bitcoin, the value of money and what the Cubs wanted to buy.

Armed Forces introduction and designing money

The Beavers were very fortunate to have Lt. Elliott join them today to talk about the Armed Forces and her job as a nurse in the British Army. They really enjoyed seeing some of her equipment and, in particular, her extensive badge blanket which was covered in patches from her time in Scouts. The Beavers also began work on the Money Skills activity badge and compared different foreign currencies as well as designing their own note or coin.

Cubs began the Money Skills activity badge this evening. They were tasked to build a structure that would protect an egg when dropped from a height. They could exchange tokens for materials and everyone succeeded in keeping their egg intact.

Lord Mayor's Show - City of London

Image
Beavers cheered on the participants in this year's Lord Mayor's Show. The procession paraded through the streets of the City of London. The Beavers loved seeing the Lord Mayor's state coach and the variety of participants which ranged from different sections of the armed forces to companies and professions operating in or with a link to the City. Beavers particularly liked those participants handing out sweet treats as they marched down the street!
