Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Image
Or, happy new year in Chinese!  We're lucky to have lots of parents who were able to show and explain many different aspects of Chinese culture in the year of the snake 🐍. It began with understanding the Chinese zodiac:  Followed by some calligraphy:  And then some careful scissorwork to make a snake mobile:  Then, some manual dexterity with a chopstick relay:  Some traditional Chinese treats of spring rolls and sunflower seeds for new year:  And finally, a lucky red packet:  谢谢 to all the parents for your planning and efforts. It was really wonderful!

Night Hike

Image
St Benedict's Cubs donned their head torches and walking boots this week, as they braved the dark  and went out on a night hike. After a quick briefing from Akela, the Cubs set off from the HQ in their sixes. They hiked for 2 miles taking in Hanger Hill Park,  and Fox Wood. Red six even had a quick pit stop half way for some impromptu press ups! As the evening drew to a close the Cubs returned back to HQ. Where they were all treated to delicious mugs of steaming hot chocolate to see out the evening! We also bid a fond farewell to Hugo in Green Six, who enjoyed his last St Ben's Cub meeting before he moves to Australia.  All the best for the future Hugo and we wish you well with your next Scouting adventures Down Under!   Thanks so much to all the leaders and helpers for a successful evening.
