Australia night

Image
We were very pleased to welcome Steve and Sam from 7th Cheltenham Scout Group, who were visiting the UK from Melbourne, Australia. Their visit was the perfect climax to our work on the international activity badge. In honour of their visit, both packs met together. We presented our neckers to Steve and Sam to welcome them to our group. Sam showed a video he'd made which explained more about Scouting in Australia. The Cubs shared their experiences of different activities. Unsurprisingly, camping was very popular! We then moved outside to exercise our vocal chords with a campfire singalong Including 1EN classics such as 'Hello Joe' The evening was also special as we had many new Cubs to invest.  Our international visitors welcomed the new Cubs by presenting them with their World Membership Badge, which is worn by all members of the Scouting movement around the world. Ealing Half Marathon

Image
On a beautiful sunny Sunday morning, Cubs met at Lammas Park to offer their support to the runners completing the Ealing Half Marathon. There was time to have a chat with nature: Followed by getting that finish line and podium feeling (before the runners showed up) But with the runners closing in, Cubs took up their position in the finishing funnel: Well done to all the runners and Cubs on an outstanding effort and a fantastic morning.

Pack forum

This week the Cubs provided their views and ideas on how the pack should be run, future activities and what should happen if there is any untoward behaviour. The lists are now being collated and will be signed by Cubs next week and will be available to view on our noticeboard. Some of the more unusual suggestions (such as a Torturing Parents badge?!) might be relegated to the bottom of the list! Cubs also practised walking safely with a lit candle whilst weaving in and out of chairs.

HM The Queen

It was lovely to see all the Cubs after the summer holidays and welcome four new joiners to our pack. We caught up on what we'd been up to over the summer and what we have planned for the autumn, reminded ourselves on how to roll neckers and flags and got to know our new joiners. During the session we heard the sad news that the Queen had died. The Queen was the patron of The Scout Association and all members and leaders make a promise to do our duty to the Queen. The Cubs had some interesting questions and many proudly pointed to the Platinum Jubilee badge on their uniform. Others recognised that things will change including the names of awards and the wording of our promise. At the end of our meeting, we lowered the flag and held a brief silence to remember the Queen.
