1EN Group Spring Camp 2024 - Cubs
Our Walpole and Pitshanger Scout troops were presented with new flags and the old flag was formally retired
Cubs and Beavers were given a safety briefing of dos and do nots while on camp
Once tents had been erected and bags put away, there was time for a quick game of hide and seek and Sardines (hide and seek in reverse!) in the woods
After lunch, Cubs took part in an Olympic-style sports day with lots of team activities
They then had an upper body workout with some bouldering
With so many activities and a long day behind them, everyone was grateful for a delicious spag bol made by our excellent kitchen team
The washing up was done by moonlight
As temperatures dropped, everyone gathered around the campfire for songs and toasted apples dipped in cinnamon and sugar
It was a sound night and we woke up to a beautiful dawn, birdsong and the sound of woodpeckers hammering on nearby trees
After getting dressed, Bagheera got the Cubs' blood pumping with a warm up session in the morning sunshine, followed by some deep breathing
A hearty and filling breakfast prepared everyone for a busy day ahead
With more washing up
And a period of thought and reflection with Baloo, with many Cubs camping and being away from home for the first time
Cubs visited the Scouts' campsite to get a taster of activities they'll experience on their Scouting journey
We also practiced a bit of First Aid
And then applied their fire building skills to cook their lunch, including some yummy s'mores!
Everyone left with a copy of our special camp badge. The badge was designed by Maria, who won our badge design competition
