2025 Badge Design Competition

Calling all of our budding artists and designers to create the official badge for this year’s Group Spring Camp.

Enter our fantastic competition, and your design could be made into a blanket badge which will be given to everyone attending this year's group camp.

The camp will be at Walter Davies Camp Site from 29-30 March 2025 and will have lots of outdoor adventurous activities as well as the usual mix of great food, a campfire and a night under canvas (or a bus for our younger members!). Further details on the camp will be sent soon.

Your badge design can include any images you wish. You may also wish to incorporate one or more of our Scout values of integrity, respect, care, belief and cooperation. You can find out more about our values here.

The design should have no more than 8 different colours. Entries should be drawn on a plain sheet of A4 paper. To submit your entry, photograph or scan your picture and email it to communications@1enscouts.org or hand to your section leader.

The closing date for submissions is Sunday 16 February 2025.
The competition is open to all members of 1st Ealing North Scout Group.

1EN Group Spring Camp 2024 - Cubs

All 1EN sections got together again for a one-night group camp at Walter Davies Scout Camp. We began with our usual flag breaking ceremony to open the camp, but this time it was slightly different... Our Walpole and Pitshanger Scout troops were presented with new flags and the old flag was formally retired Cubs and Beavers were given a safety briefing of dos and do nots while on camp Once tents had been erected and bags put away, there was time for a quick game of hide and seek and Sardines (hide and seek in reverse!) in the woods After lunch, Cubs took part in an Olympic-style sports day with lots of team activities They then had an upper body workout with some bouldering A spot of air rifle shooting And a sensory workout with a blind trail With so many activities and a long day behind them, everyone was grateful for a delicious spag bol made by our excellent kitchen team The washing up was done by moonlight As temperatures dropped, everyone gathered around the campfire for songs an...

1EN/8E Battle of Britain Bunker Sleepover

70 Beavers and Cubs from both 1st Ealing North and 8th Ealing got together for an unforgettable sleepover at the Battle of Britain Bunker.   It flew by! After dropping our bags off we were welcomed by an active RAF helicopter pilot with a very special job. So many questions... and no, there are no toilets on his helicopter.  After a quick bite, it was on to the activities. Starting with making our own RAF squadron badges: Building some straw rocket planes Lego flying contraptions And, of course, a tour of the historically significant Battle of Britain bunker.  This was followed by a late night treat and a movie. It was then time to get down and sleep under the Spitfire and Hurricane. Don't forget your soft toy! After (some) sleep it was time for breakfast.  After which everyone gathered outside for flag break and a few moments of reflection. There was just enough time to explore the rest of the museum before heading home.  Amazing!

Cubs Summer Camp 2024: Be prepared for rain and more rain!

We approached summer camp with trepidation as the forecast was looking decidedly unsummery. The van and bags were packed for Paccar... for all eventualities... Cubs set up their tents while the leaders set up the mess tent And got to know each other better We began with our usual Grand Howl and a rundown of dos and don'ts while on site   After a busy evening unpacking and setting up camp, the leaders take a break Before continuing with a bit of torchlight washing up late into the evening It was a bit of grey morning, but some breakfast and some energiser activites woke everyone up, ready for a full day's activities It began with laser tag Which was as popular with leaders as it was with Cubs A bit of assault course scrambling And then a gladiator challenge, made more challenging with a spot of rain But the skies lighten up after a while And after a busy morning, Cubs had a bit of time to kick back and and enjoy exploring the woods before lunch  After a filling lunch, Cubs took...
