Sharpening up on camp skills

With Summer camp just around the corner, the Cubs focused on sharpening up some key camp skills this week.

Good packing is essential to any successful camp, so we discussed what you may need to pack, and how best to pack it so they are well prepared.

Roll matt's and sleeping bags are particularly tricky customers, so the Cubs spent some time  practising the correct techniques to get these packed away. You can thank us later! :)

Whilst the packing was going on inside, the other half of the group learnt how to light and manage a camp fire safely.

After a a safety briefing, the Cubs collected and sorted the wood into piles of tinder, kindling and timber, before building their fire...

With the fires built it was time to get them lit...

And no campfire is complete without marshmallows of course!

Even if one or two were a little over done!
