This week the Cubs were over the moon as they got hands-on exploring the stars and thinking like real astronauts for their Space badge.
They started by creating planispheres—star maps that help identify constellations in the night sky.
Next came Mission to Mars. Working in Sixes, the Cubs rotated around activity bases, each exploring a different aspect of what life might be like for astronauts on Mars.
To finish, the Cubs used their planispheres to learn how to spot constellations in the night sky, matching the month, date, and time to see which stars should be visible in the Northern Hemisphere. With heavy cloud cover overhead technology came to our aid via the Stellarium app (free on the app store if any Cubs would like to keep exploring!)
Thanks to all the leaders and helpers for a great session.
