This week’s meeting was all about brushing up on camp skills in readiness for our upcoming Summer camp in June.
The Pack split into two groups, with Blue and Red Sixes heading outside for fire lighting with Bagheera, while Yellow and Green took on tent pitching with Akala.
Outside, Cubs learned how to build and light fires safely using different fire lays before putting their skills into action. Once the fires were burning well, there was just enough time for toasting marshmallows before safely putting everything out.
Inside, teams worked together to pitch, clean and pack away tents against the clock, showing brilliant teamwork and problem-solving throughout. After the half term break we'll be swapping the teams over so everyone gets to experience both sets of skills.
The evening ended with investitures of our new Cubs to welcome them officially into the Pack, as well as badge presentations which included a very special award for young leader Beatrice who received the Jack Petchey Award for her excellent contribution at the 10 day Scout Camp to Kandersteg in Switzerland last Summer, along with her invaluable support helping each week with the Cubs.
Another busy night of learning new skills. Many thanks to all the leaders and helpers.
