Trooping the Colour

Today, members of 1st Ealing North Scout Group enjoyed an exciting trip into central London to watch the annual Trooping the Colour celebrations.

Our adventure actually began the evening before, when we welcomed Scouts from Colnbrook to join us at the end of our regular Friday meeting. We spent time together playing a joint game and getting to know our new friends before leaving them to stay overnight in our Scout Hut.

Bright and early on Saturday morning, we regrouped and set off for London. With the District line unavailable, we adapted our plans and travelled on the Elizabeth line to Tottenham Court Road. From there, we enjoyed an early morning walk through the capital, taking in the sights as we made our way towards The Mall.

After finding a good spot, we waited excitedly for the parade. We watched the procession make its way to Horse Guards Parade and then return again. It was a fantastic experience to see The King and Queen, other members of the Royal Family, the impressive military bands, and the Guards taking part in the ceremony.

Once the parade had passed, it was time to move closer to Buckingham Palace. Thanks to some excellent advice and teamwork from our fellow Scouts, we used a linked bag-chain technique to help everyone stay together in the busy crowds. It worked brilliantly and ensured that nobody got separated.

From our position near the front of Buckingham Palace, we were able to watch members of the Royal Family appear on the famous balcony. The highlight of the morning was undoubtedly the spectacular flypast, which was enjoyed by everyone.

After the celebrations, we headed away from the crowds, making a quick stop for water and toilets before picking up lunch from McDonald's. We then made our way to a park near Embankment Station, where we relaxed and enjoyed our lunch together while reflecting on the events of the morning.

With the day drawing to a close, we travelled back home, saying goodbye to our new friends from Colnbrook and thanking them for sharing such a memorable experience with us.

We can't wait to see them again!
