This week the Cubs took part in the first of our cooking sessions, making pesto pasta from scratch.
Before getting started, we talked about food safety, including good hygiene in the kitchen and the importance of being aware of allergens.
Then it was time to get cooking!
Each Six had the challenge of making their own pesto. The Cubs got stuck into chopping garlic and basil, adding pine nuts, grating lots of cheese and blending everything together to create their fresh pesto.
Once the pesto was ready and mixed through the pasta, there was only one thing left to do: taste it!
With Cubs coming back for seconds, we think our first cooking session was a success. Perhaps a few of them will even be inspired to recreate it at home.
