Image
What a day! The 1st Ealing North Scouts lit up Montpelier Park with their fourth Community Day, and this year’s celebration was bigger, bolder, and more fun-filled than ever—blessed by glorious spring sunshine and buzzing with excitement! Hundreds of happy faces joined our amazing Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts for an action-packed afternoon of games, laughter, and lots of cake! From not one but two epic bouncy castles , refreshing homemade lemonade (cheers to the Cubs!), and a cake stall bursting with sweet treats , to Scout-led games , sizzling hot dogs , spicy samosas , and even the chance to smash some crockery —there was something for everyone ! The kids got their faces painted, dived into the creative game from the Beaver leaders, hunted for treasures among the pre-loved goodies, and tackled our incredible obstacle course like champs. 🎯πŸ’ͺ A massive thank you to all our brilliant volunteers, families, and everyone who came along. It was truly heartwarming to see our community co...

Cubs Evening Hike

Image
The Cub Scouts enjoyed exploring the newest park in Ealing - Pear Tree Park on a hike around local parks. A peaceful green space, with winding paths and towering trees, the park was the perfect setting for an evening of outdoor adventure. And we welcomed a special guest from 2nd Balsall Common Scout Group, too!

St Ben's get back to nature!

When you mix a handful of curious Cubs and a park full of mystery, you get an evening to remember—and this one ticked all the boxes for the Gardening and Environmental Conservation badges! πŸ“ Seasonal Food Table Who knew fruit could be so dramatic? Cubs learned which fruits grow when, and several attempted to eat the props. Educational  and  nutritious. πŸ›Mini Beasts  Next up the cubs got to know all about the creepy crawlies that live in our gardens and outdoor spaces, and how they are vital to preserving the eco system. They then  learnt about respecting the countryside via the countryside code: don’t litter, shut gates behind you, and definitely don’t chase sheep (yes, that’s a rule).  To finish the Cubs donned gloves and armed themselves with blue bin bags, and grabber sticks (supervised, don’t worry!), to litter pick the park like an eco-army. They picked, they cleaned, they found mysterious objects that raised more questions than answers. Bonus points for ...

Gearing Up for Community Day

Image
Tonight's Scout meeting was all about getting ready for Community Day – and things are looking good. We kicked off by practicing the fine art of putting up dining shelters – there was only minimal tangling! Next came a fire alarm drill, just to make sure we all know how to leave a building faster than a Scout spotting cake at the end of a hike. We then moved on to knife and axe skills, learning how to use them safely – with no fingers lost and plenty of focus. To wrap up, we brushed up on the Countryside Code. Well done, Scouts – bring on Community Day!

Bugs, Bins and Beans - An Environmental Adventure

When you mix a handful of curious Cubs and a park full of mystery, you get an evening to remember—and this one ticked all the boxes for the Gardening and Environmental Conservation badges! πŸ“ Seasonal Food Table Who knew fruit could be so dramatic? Cubs learned which fruits grow when, and several attempted to eat the props. Educational and nutritious. Armed with gloves, blue bin bags, and pointy sticks (supervised, don’t worry!), the Cubs spread across Montpelier Park like an eco-army. They picked, they cleaned, they found mysterious objects that raised more questions than answers. Bonus points for finding bugs while litter picking—multitasking at its finest!   Everyone regrouped to learn about respecting the countryside: don’t litter, shut gates behind you, and definitely don’t chase sheep (yes, that’s a rule).

Visit from our fellow Polish Scouts

Image
This week the Troop were joined by Julia, Zuzia and Patrycja members of Ealing’s Polish Scouting Association. Our Scouts learned about some of the differences (uniform, history and organisation) as well as similarities (love of games, practical skills and a sweet tooth!). We presented each of our guests with a Group scarf as now part of the extended 1st Ealing North family.

Flower power!

This week the Cubs put on their gardening gloves and planted fabulous flowers outside HQ. We are so impressed with how they all turned out! The cubs also learnt how to safely use gardening tools, and learnt about recycling and composting. Finally, the Cubs designed plant labels for their pots, opting for designs based on the vibrant colours of their flowers.
