The sun was shining on 20–22 June during our annual joint 1EN Cubs Summer Camp, when our two Cub packs came together for two nights of skill-building, fun, and group bonding.
On Friday afternoon, the van was packed before we headed to Phasels Wood Activity Centre—our home under canvas for the next two nights.
After a pack up dinner and mugs of hot chocolates all round, the Cubs got their heads down for the night.
Saturday morning the Cubs were up bright and early for some morning exercise, before enjoying a hearty breakfast.
The Cubs then enjoyed a packed day of adventurous activities including...
Space Hopper Racing...
Archery...
High Ropes...
and climbing...
With all that adventure, it was time for a filling dinner + Akela and Tan's world class Chilli Con Carne was the order of the day. So good there were clean plates all round, and many 5 star reviews from the Cubs!
After dinner the Cubs set to work on their camp jobs - one group did the dishes whilst others collected water and wood for the evenings camp fire.
With jobs done, the campfire was lit, and the Cubs saw out the evening singing songs + toasting marshmallows, before retiring for another night under canvas.
The next morning a camp favourite eggy bread was on the menu. Just the fuel needed before the Cubs heading off on a 6km hike around the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside,
Upon our return it was time to strike camp and for the packing up to begin. Parents arrived and soon we had our camp home packed away back in the van.
Everyone returned to HQ to help unload before receiving badges and saying their farewells, marking the end of a fantastic weekend where the Cubs made new friends, challenged themselves, and created lasting memories.
